See Holly? (wb, btw). Here is how my view of Rush as been shaped: I bought his second book, read the first couple chapters, found it too boring and dry, and shelved the book. I've never opened it up since. I used to subscribe to his newsletter, but let it expire because for one, it was a little repetitive in many ways, and many of the quotes in the "stupid quotes" section are somewhat grasping at straws to include them there.
"Subtly mean-spirited" would certainly would be an accurate description of many of the things Rush says and plays on his show. He is 95% or more an entertainer first, as he has many times reiterated on his show. Particularly, in past years he has been just plain mean-spirited in his ridicule of Hillary, and if Hillary doesn't hate Rush with a great amount of vehemence, then she's an unusually charitable person.
That all said, I enjoy the heck out of Rush's radio show, particularly since this story broke. You might be very surprised that, during this Lewinsky "crisis", Rush has came across as MUCH more moderate than a good share of the Clinton critics on this board. Most of all, Rush provides some good laughs. Some, like Janice, also have voiced appreciation for Carville's wit. That's fine, but there is a difference: Carville is directly on the President's payroll; he's getting paid specifically and in an official capacity to apply the proper spin to Clinton stories. Plus, he talks to dang fast for me. Each to his own.
