Janice, the American public is not woefully ignorant. That's the elitism in you speaking.

We would get far better politicians if we simply opened the white papers and pointed randomly.

Perfect example...There has been a huge debate in Seattle recently about setting up a mass transit system. The multi-billion dollar train bills have routinely failed because of their high cost, and the publics belief that it would not be efficient and utilized.

Enter a local Seattle buss driver...He devised a plan using monorails interconnecting them to buss terminals and railroad stations which by most accounts is absolutely brilliant.

Those million dollar Ivy league consultants now look like complete fools. Often times life experiences and good old fashioned common sense is all that is needed in the public policy arena.

I look forward to a Seattle monorail system up and running by the year 2003.

One of the biggest problems we have is electing a bunch of lawyers to do the peoples work in the House of Representatives.

And people then wonder why we have the most complicated tax system in the world. duhhhh.
