Hi, Duncan!! I basically agree with all your comments about Reagan, but I also think that he was very damaged by growing up with an alcoholic father, and as the documentary pointed out, protected himself by not becoming very attached. Adult children of alcoholics are often like this, incidentally, but I am sure you already know that. I think he was able to have a good relationship with Nancy because he had a nurturing relationship with his mother. Perhaps it is rarer for men than women to have close friends, because being close friends involves revealing yourself, really trusting and sharing, and men have a bunch of social taboos about this. You are right, though, except Clinton and Jordan have been close friends for twenty-five years. It will be interesting to see how close!!!
