Holly, Im the early seventies Canada converted to the Metric System. In order to popularize the concept with the masses, the Government of Canada undertook a major public relations blitz. They hired Millie Small and made here the official singing spokesperson for Metric Canada. Her name became a household word across the nation. Children in schoolyards and on frozen ponds were heard singing the refrain she made so popular...give me ten millimetres, and i'll give you a centimetre, give me 100 centimetres and I'll give you a metre.... Millie Small was reborn as Millie Metre and spent a wonderful 2.54 years as the ruling queen of Canadian song.

Unfortunately Millie Metre developed a passion for poutine and vanilla fudge. She bloated up to over 150 kilos and was subsequently dropped as the spokesperson for Metric Canada. She is currently suing the government of Canada for royalties for the thousands of commercials which featured her singing the Metric Song.

sad but true
