Jhild, this is Duncan's actual statement:

Do you notice the word HAD, as in "HAD the Left succeeded . . ."?

This makes the statement's meaning quite different, in that Duncan is certainly not stating that the Left succeeded in destroying Germany's educational system, and therefore could not be expected to provide the "thoughtful substantiation" for which you are waiting.

It must be a very slow news day. Doesn't anyone want to talk about whether Slick boinked Monica?
