Paul ... This is the second time in the past week I have heard of a "Roth"

The first was some discussion going on CNBC, I believe, where someone was giving advice as to whether to convert or not. Being a Canadian, I have some familiarity with what an IRA is, but this "Roth" is new to me. I know it doesn't affect me, but I'll tell you what makes me green with envy is all the tax angles Americans have over us. We have the RRSP admittedly and investment loan interest is tax deductible, but let's not turn this into a discussion of Canada/US tax laws.

25 words or less to define "Roth" would be nice. I wonder if it's named after some Senator or Congressman like a so many other things down there. E.G. Helms-Burton law (you remember the name, but not which law it is about, if you catch my drift).

Any information would be nice to have and I can impress somebody up here with my new found knowledge I'm sure.
