2ND INTERN CALLED A REAL BOMBSHELL
By BRIAN BLOMQUIST
WASHINGTON - An ex-White House intern with a mysterious link to President Clinton will provide a "major development" in Sexgate when she testifies to the grand jury this week, her lawyer said yesterday.
His remarks fuel the mystery surrounding Sherrie Densuk, a 24-year-old songwriter and sometime actress who lives in Midtown Manhattan.
Sexgate special prober Kenneth Starr subpoenaed Densuk, who was an intern at the White House at the same time as Monica Lewinsky, to appear before his grand jury Tuesday.
Densuk's lawyer, Keith Watters, said "it's fair to say" that Densuk's story involves a direct link between her and Clinton.
"It's a big story. Monica Lewinsky is a big story. This is a big story," Watters told The Post.
In the first pictures of Densuk, obtained exclusively by The Post, she at times looks eerily like Lewinsky. She appears in a series of glamour and modeling shots, apparently made for a portfolio, including some that show her wearing a Monica-like beret.
Densuk told The Post last week in a brief interview that she never met Lewinsky, but she tellingly refused to answer questions about whether she was ever alone with Clinton. She referred those questions to Watters, her Washington, D.C., lawyer.
In a series of phone interviews, including one yesterday, Watters has given tantalizing tidbits - predicting the Densuk story "is going to be a major development" for Starr - but has declined to give specifics.
"I think there's a major, major story here," Watters said.
Watters insisted Densuk isn't a witness to any alleged relationship between Lewinsky and Clinton.
Asked about the nature of a possible Densuk-Clinton relationship, Watters said, "I don't want to characterize the nature of any relationship."
Watters said he didn't know when his client's full story would come out, but added she'll answer all questions and tell the truth to the grand jury.
"She'll always abide by the law," Watters said, adding that Densuk wasn't questioned by the Starr staffers who delivered her subpoena.
"I will tell you that no one has tried to interfere with her," Watters said.
Paula Jones' lawyers on Friday claimed in court papers that Clinton and associates have executed an orchestrated effort to suppress stories about alleged presidential affairs.
Sources say Densuk's name doesn't turn up on the taped conversations between Lewinsky and Linda Tripp, one of Starr's cooperating witnesses.
Densuk was an intern at the White House when Lewinsky was there, but Lewinsky lawyer Nathaniel Speights said they weren't in the same group and that he'd never heard of her.
"I never met Monica there," Densuk told The Post last week. But she told WCBS-TV she called Lewinsky for legal advice after getting her subpoena more than a week ago.
Densuk, who's from the Baltimore area, has done some acting, worked as a talent scout for CNN, worked in cosmetics and recently devoted her attention to songwriting. nypostonline.com |
