Hi Russell, "First of all Dole had that weird appearance of plastic surgery, " One of the stupidest things the Republican Party ever did was to run poor Bob Dole, decent and loyal politico, against the slickster. I saw Mr. Dole and spoke briefly with him at a local Republican straw poll event. Your description is accurate. He not only had that "plastic surgery" appearance (I don't know that he actually had any), but he also had some sort of make up on which gave him the appearance of having been prepared by the undertaker for his casket. I knew at that moment that it was all over. The Republicans gave him the nomination because it was "his turn", placing party loyalty above the interests of the American public. They threw in Jack Kemp at the last minute to add some semblance of sanity to their ridiculous nomination. Then Mr. Clinton, with the help of the rabid Carvill and the oleaginous Begala, proceeded to scoff at the campaign laws and get money from Indonesia and China to outdo the Repubs on the TV which US citizens are always glued to. All in all, a sorry performance. I haven't given the Repubs a nickel since. Jack
