Mark, re: 'books'

The books actually have different colors. Seems trivial but it isn't if one tries to mass-replicate a disc. Deviations from the books sometimes means that a particular replicator won't make the disc, or that they will but they'll assume no liability if the end-product doesn't work. Standard audio CDs are 'red book' for example, and CD-I were 'green book'. 'Blue Book' to which you refer, applies to one specific type of ECD called 'stamped multisession' which has many other names due mainly to ego-wrangling from MSFT. Those other names include CD-Plus and CD-Extra. 'Enhanced CD' (ECD) is really a blanket name covering two different methods of hiding data, but I didn't want to clutter up my last post with unnessecary detail.

At the current time, this seems to be an 'ADPT/AAPL Only' effort so, "NO", I don't see a new format book being established. That would require a joint effort with content creators from the film and recording industries in the same way Sony, Philips, and others were instrumental in creating 'Blue Book'. So far, nobody is publicly tilting their hat to that end.

Wouldn't surprise me if Sony is working on a similar idea with a different approach. If it gets too splintered, the whole thing will flop of course. Witness how long it took to get everybody organized on DVD in the first place. There were two major camps which finally came to an agreement after a few years of head-butting.
