Holly, did you ever hear of a proposal to re-divide the continent more appropriately using north-south boundaries along the Rockies or east of them, perhaps using the Mississippi - one of these ideas being the nation of Cascadia, comprising (I think) northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho -g-, British Columbia and Alaska.
Myself I think it is a good idea, western people are different from eastern, you in SF and I on Vancouver Island have much in common, we see New Yorkers and Torontonians as quite equally weird and foreign. Maybe one nation from Point Barrow to Cabo San Lucas would be a good idea, providing we clean up the place by immediately bulldozing Los Angeles, Tijuana, and the denser high-rent tacky portions of Vancouver and Seattle.
One big advantage this would have for British Columbians is that this way we could get the French off the corn flake boxes, and replace it with espa¤ol, making it understandable.
