Well, I am still operating on American stereotypes, but aren't old-style Italian mothers very nurturing, wonderful cooks who indulge their male children? This kind of thing happens in Ireland a lot also, where the young women expect more than their mothers did in terms of equality and freedom in a marriage, and so the young men complacently just keep on living at home. Incidentally, is it true or false that in Italy, men are still sometimes very forward and presumptuous and do things like just grab at a strange woman to whom they are attracted?
