Yes, I saw that news broadcast on the enormous movie viewership of teenage American girls. And they like sci fi and horror films as well as the more romantic ones, and they have plenty of money to spend. Anything that encourages good movies to be made is positive, in my opinion.

My daughter went to Titanic with my husband and her teenaged boy cousins, at Christmas. I did not go then because I thought it might be too boring, although I have always been fascinated with the underlying story. My daughter thought it was the best movie she ever saw, and she has seen many. But she said later that she was depressed for several days afterwards, because all the deaths were just so sad. Several months later, I am quite willing to see the movie, but I would like to go with her, and am STILL waiting for her to be ready to see it again.
