Feinstein was a total fluke! Her political career was considered over after so many failed races. And then Mosconi (sp) was killed. She did ok as mayor because she was not as left as most in SF. Wilson virtually made her Senator by appointing some nothing-burger to fill out his term (remember Seymour?, I thought not). There was massive vote fraud on her side in that extremely close Huffington race, whom she was afraid to debate. She cravenly campaigned on the "Balanced Budget Amendment" and then, once elected voted against it. And as for Feinstein and higher office - forget it. Even Mondale passed her over for Gerry "the chin" Ferraro. Gotta admit though, Feinstein does look smart when measured against Barbara Boxer.
