Cherry Blossoms are not the only things set to pop in Washington. A new woman is charging that Bill Clinton brazenly stroked her breast without asking permission -- as Hillary Clinton slept just a few feet away! Cristy Zercher, 34, also reveals that Bruce Lindsey called from the White House pressuring her to keep quiet about Clinton's behavior. She also describes a mysterious break-in at her apartment where only her personal diary and photos of the president were taken.
The story of the flight attendant on Clinton's '92 campaign plane hits in next week's STAR [April 7], a pre-release obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT. Word of the 7-page exclusive became a Washington obsession late Thursday, with the White House moving into high gear. "The spin machine is cranked up to nose bleed," an insider tells the DRUDGE REPORT
It is not known if Zercher was paid for the interview. But STAR reporter Richard Gooding has reportedly been working on the story for months.
In the interview, Zercher claims that she was subjected to unrelenting abuse -- both physical and verbal -- for a period of a year while working at close quarters with the president-to-be.
The woman has sworn an affidavit attesting to the truth of the statements she has made; friends and relatives confirm that she privately told them identical stories shortly after they occurred, says the tabloid.
"He was standing, unzipped, in the bathroom. He said: 'Why don't you come in and shut the door?' I was humiliated." One episode she describes.
Zercher tells in detail how Clinton once grabbed her from behind in a bear hug and clamped one hand over her breast. How he once, she says, pinned her against a wall and whispered sexual remarks to her. He barraged her with graphic sexual conversation and innuendo -- including stuff about barnyard animals and the grossest kind of gesturessuggesting oral intercourse, she claims.
"If he had been a passenger on a commercial plane, he would have been prosecuted -- and jailed," says Zercher, who was 27 years old at the time.
It is not clear why Zercher has now come forward with her story, she does say she wishes she had done something at the time. She was afraid of losing her job. "He was the boss," she says.
"For a while I was embarrassed about some of the things that happened to me during the campaign. Now I realize I'm not the only one whose breast he touched -- and there's no reason I should be embarrassed... I wish I had the maturity then I have today -- that I could have said something when the behavior was inappropriate."
The STAR reveals that the WASHINGTON POST was also hot on the Zercher trail. When word reached the White House that the press may closing in, Zercher says she received a call from Bruce Lindsey. She recalls him saying: "What did they want to know? Did they want to know if Clinton was flirting on the plane? Did you say anything to anybody?" Zercher said Lindsey urged her to say "all positive things."
It goes on for pages.
It is not known if Zercher has agreed to a television interview, or if she'll hold a press conference. The NEW YORK POST fronts the shock story in Friday editions.
One former White House staffer reached late Thursday was quick to dismiss the entire report.
"This is more tabloid trash, at least it didn't come from 60 MINUTES this time," the former staffer told the DRUDGE REPORT. "Boring."
