Oracle - Applications - Ellison Take heart PeopleSoft investors. The news that Ellison will lead the applications business is good news for all ERP competition (and the worst for struggling execs in Oracle.) History shows that whenever a horizontal supplier moves to vertical niches they are doomed for failure. Sorry Larry, it just won't happen. Can you say -- Core Competency --? Will Japanophile Larry retreat to Woodside and fall on a samuari sword? Probably not. But hari-kari is probably the most humane outcome for Oracle Applications, NC, and his other non-db misadventures.
