We're Too Hard On Bill

I've been giving it some thought and as much as I hate to admit it, we're being too hard on Bill.

Take the Flower's adultery thing, for example. Okay, the man was getting a little on the side. It happens. But it's over, it's a thing of the past. Why should it matter now? When the press gets a hold of it, what's Bill supposed to do? Back then, if you admitted to an adulterous affair your chances of getting into the White House were slim. So he kind of fudged the truth a little. Nobody got hurt.

And what about that marijuana thing? Common, he was a kid in college and he experimented with pot a couple times. Big deal. But he can't admit it, cause then he's not elected for sure. But he can't deny it either, cause, well, back then if you were caught lying there's no way you would win New Hampshire. So he kind of admits it and kind of doesn't. Nobody got hurt.

And then there was the draft thing. Why would a man who has as pirations of being the President ever let himself get into a position where he could get his ass shot off in some stupid war on the other side of the world? Certainly not, not he if could help it. So he pulled a few strings and told a few white lies. Back then there was no way you could be elected Commander of Chief if you were a lying, draft dodger. What's the big deal anyway? Nobody got hurt.

Okay, so Bill gets elected. Damn if his past doesn't catch up again. This time it's over trying to make a little money in real estate. He had the connections, the power and just the right amount of ethical flexibility to pull it off. Who can blame him? Nobody really got hurt.

Then Hillary gets involved in a bunch of crap. And who gets blamed? Bill. Like there's a man alive who has any control over what his wife does. A few folks lost their cushy jobs and a couple small laws were bent and a couple people happened to die at about the same time. It's not that nobody got hurt, but get some perspective.

Then some file clerk misplaces a few FBI files and next thing you know everybody's squawking about their privacy. Think about this one. Your the Prez. You can have all the babes you want, do anything you want. Are you going to be sitting around reading FBI files about other people's dumb, boring personal lives? No. And besides, there's no proof anybody got hurt.

And then, to top it off, a few women who were just asking for it, and some of them got it and some of them didn't, do the old kiss and tell routine and everybody acts like it's a big deal. And yes, there were a few lies because even today, in these times, there are still a few things you can't admit to publicly. And a few folks may have gotten roughed up a bit but there were others that got ahead, new jobs and such. Nobody really got hurt.

Yeah, there are some other things, but come on. Nobody's perfect. We all make mistakes. Search your soul. Maybe, just maybe, we're being a little too hard on Bill.
