The bandwidth comparisons are not quite that straightforward and CyberStar is fudging the numbers some. There is a big difference between a point to point link and a multiple access.

That said, there is still an enormous window of opportunity here. The key is exploiting poor local infrastructure which is something satellites are very good for. And exploit it they will.

What kind of sales this will generate for Adaptec I cannot say. But I am guessing it could be very substantial and it is definitely an important piece in an overall bandwidth management strategy.

Note that the communications infrastructure in many areas of the US is poor too. Only the large metropolitan areas have lots of fiber....
