MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 7, 1998--Adaptec Inc.
(NASDAQ:ADPT) today announced the filing of a legal action against
Prassi Software USA Inc., a publisher of CD mastering software.
Umberto Bassignani, Paolo Barettoni and Jeff Stenehjem, all
employed by Prassi Software, were also named in the suit.
The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the
Northern District of California and alleges claims for copyright
infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, conversion, breach of
contract and unfair competition.
The complaint seeks an award of compensatory and punitive damages
and a preliminary and permanent injunction barring the use, copying
and distribution of Prassi's allegedly infringing works, among other
relief.
"Adaptec has always protected its intellectual property
vigorously," said Dana Miles, corporate counsel for Adaptec. "This
suit is part of our continuing effort to ensure fair competition is
protected and that unfair competition is stopped."
