Torben: Thanks. I was having the same impression but lacked the energy to enter the discussion. Adaptec is focusing on its strength--managing bandwidth. It is the leader in SCSI and already fielding fibre channel. There have been numerous announcements recently from Computer OEMs marketing new servers based upon the faster Intel chips and offering Adaptec SCSI cards. They have Ultra SCSI 2 in production and Ultra SCSI 3 (up to 160MBPS) on the way. Can somebody tell me bandwidth management is no longer needed or show me a company that does it better? If Adaptec were in AMD's position and struggling against Intel, I would be worried. But Adaptec is the Intel of bandwidth management companies, in my opinion.
