You know that wasn't what I meant, Duncan. Most smart ten-year-olds, and of course all future Merit scholars, were reading newsmagazines and studying events, and watching television footage of the war on television. Did you think it was a just war? Did you believe in the domino theory? Did you think we should get out? Were you chomping at the bit to join Junior ROTC as soon as you could, or were you trying to find out all you could about how to start laying a case for being a conscientious objector should the war drag into your draft years? Smart ten-year-olds would be musing about these issues.
