Part of the reason that Checkpoint bought Metainfo is that they want to provide a full solution from firewall to IP based VPN. There are also encryption issues where SDTI is the leader. MSFT is still way behind. The ideal case that they want to see is the CTXS modal. If MSFT do want to compete, it will not be as easy as the web browser case where they can give it out for free. In addition, NT is not going to be as successful as Windows where they can snap that kind of high market share in the personal level. In the enterprise level, CHKPF will be highly competitive in multiple platforms, not to mention their already 40%+ market share.
