ASP stands for Active Server Pages. It is a Microsoft server-side programming capability for client/server internet and intranet applications. It is excellently implemented in a Microsoft product called Visual Studio which makes dynamic database driven internet websites relatively easy to set up. It uses open database calls and can be used with Oracle and any other ODB including of course SQL. What is great about ASP is that it is very fast. Websites that use it and the number is growing constantly are quite fast in accessing data. Website by O'reilly also now supports ASP as well. It is WAY better than PERL and CGI. It really is the next generation technology for web development. I hate Microsoft and Bill Gates especially; but hey, it is a good product. Visual Studio makes it possible to throw together a mirror image of Silicon Investor in all its functionality in a matter of a few months. SI is rather simple in construction. I am really surprised about the sale. It is all in the name and marketing; not the technology.
