Someone, way way back, made some reference to your being from Cambridge. I surmised that since you did not correct that person on that point that it amounted to a stipulation.
Anyway, it does not diminish my point that about the apotheosis of JFK1 that was and even remains to this day among the aged New Frontierers and those with a peasant mentality. I say that because JFK's status came not from his achievements, but in spite of them, due mostly to his ethnicity, politics, his PR machine and the way he died.
It has been widely reported that JFK1 was a young Slick's hero well before they met in the early 1960's.
Btw, Al Hunt, a well-known way out liberal journalist just wrote a whole piece devoted to his hero!, the recently deceased former Gov of NC and prez of Duke, Terry Sanford. Sanford ran for US Prez twice and held one term in the US Senate until he was thrown out in 1992.
Terry Sanford then became one of my heroes. When he died last Saturday at the age of 80, he still was.
Better write him at editors@interactive.wsj.com
and admonish him that it just ain't healthy to have such notions, especially in this age of "the children". |
