There really does not seem to be a MSFT threat to CHKPF. David - true. But, MSFT could be a threat if marketed and positioned correctly - MSFT is the behemoth of marketing - as we all know. It's just that CHKPF has such an enormous lead - that it would be difficult for MSFT to ever catch CHKPF. MSFT similarly entered the browser market late - and ended up offering Internet Explorer for free to combat NSCP Navigator. Something similar in the firewall market would definitely stir the ol' pot up a little. We'll have to see - I don't ever see a firewall being offered for free - but I would imagine that MSFT beefing up Proxy Server's security aspects - and then offering it at a sizeable discount to FireWall-1 would definitely stir that pot up - causing industry pricing pressure - a definite negative. But again, as others here have stated, the market has overreacted to the situation as MSFT has said nothing other than 'we plan to compete' with CHKPF. We know nothing more of their exact technical/marketing and positioning for security to justifiably build all this negativity currently built into this stock. Hence, the famous words spread all across SI - "Buying Opportunity".
