Isn't there some evidence to indicate that cigarettes are even harder on women's bodies than on men's?

None that I know of. I have noted over the years that women who smoke have worse (harder to operate on) vascular disease than men. I think this is just because their vessels are smaller to begin with, so they don't have as much room when they start to narrow.

The twenty pack-year figure is probably not too accurate. As I think of it more, most of the people with lung cancer have a longer or heavier smoking history. But I can't quote you a number.
