Morning Christine!

Well, I see that you had a busy weekend - so busy that you most likely didn't see Meet the Press.

A few titbits:

Very interesting program. Tim Russert stated that he talked to one of Clinton's closest aides who told him that Ken Starr's report would be "absolutely devastating" to Clinton. I guess they should know. (Starr will present a very strong case that both Clintons committed crimes in Whitewater and both Clintons and their Cronies obstructed justice).

Russert also illustrated how weak Clintons's hold on public opinion is: while about 2/3 approve of his "job performance", a similar number declared that they do not respect and do not trust him. Those figures are among the worst ever earned by a President.

Seems the feminist message is also having its effect - their outrageous hypocrisy on Jones and Clinton & Co.'s hostility toward women have ended the 18 point gender gap that Slick and his party once enjoyed, it's now an even split. The Reps still have a lead among men.

That trend is now seen in views toward 2000 - whereas Gore lead Republican Bush2 last July, he now loses. Similarly, Al D'Amato was losing badly to Geraldine Ferraro a couple of months ago, he now enjoys a good double-digit lead over her and 2-1 over any other Dem. Significantly, 1/3 of the Dems so they want him back.

I believe that Reps will hammer home a major theme this Fall to their great benefit - that we can't trust Clinton as President without someone, i.e., a Rep Congress, to keep him "honest". The polls indicate that would be a winning strategy on many levels.
