What a surprise - Ginsburg Loses!

Starr's Hand Strengthened
Lewinsky Loses Immunity Bid

U.S. HEADLINES

ABCNEWS.com
W A S H I N G T O N, April 29 - ABCNEWS has
learned that Monica Lewinsky has lost her battle to
win full immunity from Independent Counsel
Kenneth Starr.
Lewinsky's lawyer William Ginsburg had gone to federal
court arguing that Starr made a
deal to protect Lewinsky from
prosecution in exchange for
her cooperation, and then he
reneged on the deal.
According to a lawyer
familiar with the investigation,
ABCNEWS Correspondent
Jackie Judd reports, Judge
Norma Johnson ruled against
Ginsburg.
The decision puts Starr a
step closer to getting testimony
from Lewinsky about her alleged affair with President Clinton
and claims he tried to cover up the relationship. Clinton has
denied the relationship under oath and in public interviews.
Starr can now either give Lewinsky limited
immunity-which would still give prosecutors the ability to
prosecute her based on evidence provided by others-or he
could just outright indict her.
