Judith.. this is what I me thinks.... if you folks like VYTL ya gotta love TSCP.... check news in all the usual places.... new deals... plus, they're making a TON of money.... here's my latest post:
Back in August '97 I put the *P BBs on to TSCP 6-7 range... last two quarters they made more/share than MCIC (holy $Glass$Chandeliers$ Bat Man).... and I expect on a go forward basis this to continue.... though 1999 estimates have MCIC a touch above TSCP this will change as coverage increases and eps estimate are adjusted upwards.... most amazing is we're meandering in the teens and MCIC is around 50... when the industry consolidation folks get around to TSCP I believe a moonshoot will be in order..... TSCP just happens to be in an underserviced market and apparently knows how to grease the right palms.... nothing happens without bribes in the Southern Americas.... a big juicy plumb pudding ready for consuming
Check out these late developments and forward looking staements....
." In recent months, Telscape has moved aggressively to further position itself as a fully-integrated telecommunications provider. Key recent events include:-0- -- In July 1997, Telscape completed the acquisition of Mexico City-based Integracion de Redes, a data and network systems integrator. -- In October 1997, Telscape acquired N.S.I, a Mexico City-based expert in advanced wide-area network design. N.S.I. brought to the Company the technological and managerial expertise necessary to enable the Company to pursue opportunities in the telephony-over-television cable arena. -- The Company's expanding presence in value-added telecom services resulted in an attractive five year, $20-30 million outsourcing contract with the United States Embassy in Mexico City. Telscape began implementing the system in December 1997 and early results are very positive. In connection with this contract, the Company established a call center in Mexico City which will serve as a platform for additional growth. -- In January 1998, Telscape added to its international long distance operations the business of MSN Communications, a leading provider of prepaid telephone calling cards targeted at Hispanic communities in the United States. The transaction adds a well-known brand name and retail distribution platform to Telscape's mix and the Company intends to utilize that brand name in certain Latin American countries as regulation and licenses permit. Based on the first two months of 1998, MSN has annualized revenues in excess of $50 million.
"With these important accomplishments and other successes throughout the year, Telscape entered 1998 in excellent competitive shape as we continue to expand our position as a fully-integrated telecommunications provider," noted Mr. Crist. "We have also identified opportunities to replicate our Mexican strategy in other key Latin American markets. Like Mexico, in each of these markets Telscape has identified partners with strong local management. We look forward to pursuing these new business opportunities in 1998 while also capitalizing on the growth potential of our core businesses."
