Hi Brian, I don't know about newsgroups and all that, but I really like to ride mountain bike. For those interested and just getting started, the features I appreciate most about my bike are: 1) knock-off wheels and seat......a great convenience! 2) fenders.....seriously! <g> I've only biked in the French Alpes outside of the USA, which is where I got started. I was living there and my French friends laughed at my bicyclette and made me buy a velo, which meant leaving all paved roads behind and heading for the mountain paths, vineyards, and horse trails in the woods. Horse trails rule! They can be quite narrow, winding, and fast..... being somewhat level. Since the trails might only be about one horse in width when a galloping horse comes running from the opposite direction you need to be ready to jump off the trail with your bike and push yourself into the brush, but other than that great fun! I may be going to Maui this summer, so would anyone know of some good trails there, or a good trail guide? Thanks. E. Graphs
