Brian, Yes the OTWAYS have many trials which you can even hire a decent bike set-up for a very reasonable price too. New Zealand sure does have a lot of mountains, but not many you would even get too, as to be able to ride up and over. Australia is far more advanced as far as set-up of place of all terrain for MTB. Mt Hotham and most of the major Ski resorts also have mountian bike set up now to take advantage of the off season and then you have placed to the north such as Cairns which is pack full of mountain rides and then you could take a flight to the red center and ride you hide off in the desert. I will find a stack of MTB links for you to check out for around Australia.
