You are the first logical questioner. Anyone with High Altitude, Low Latitude experience will tell you about Thunderstorms at 75,000 feet. Then trying to keep the fuel warm enough to sustain 48 hour missions is a project in itself. You will NOT be operating at Mach numbers high enough to give sufficient "ram rise" and attendant heating. Even the U-2 with the big engine, would have big problems with this mission.

And then there are the "squirrelly" handling characteristics as you get up into the "coffin corner." Go out to the nearest airport and ask why the original Lear Jet -23's and -24's were limited to 41,000 feet. Answer: Control problems at high altitudes.

AWACS is workable with full crews and refueling capability. That is also at a mission altitude of 29,000 to 35,000 feet.

Then there are the repeated inexactitudes about the type and location of the tests. Ask only one question. What aircraft will be used for this operation??

Certainly not the "Cirrus" type gliders shown in the PLFM video presentation.
