Visual Telephone International Poised for Growth

May 13, 1998 11:06 AM

SOUTH HACKENSACK, N.J., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Visual Telephone International VTPI is moving in a positive direction in its core business of selling video
conferencing units. While industry sales as a whole have been flat, the sales and prospects of VTPI continue to grow. Visual attributes the recent success to the
increased market awareness of the products from trade show attendance and magazine advertising. "Without a doubt," said Kevin Baisley, Visual Telephone
International's VP of Sales and Marketing, "the quality of leads from past shows, especially from TeleCon East/IDLCON, Washington, DC April 15, 16 and 17, is
well beyond expectations."

'Imitation is the highest form of flattery.' VTPI's current products were formulated three years back, and were developed with information and market knowledge of
what the parameters of acceptance were for an emerging industry -- that of low cost, easy to use, desktop video conferencing. Carl Ceragno, CEO of Visual
Telephone International commented, "Lately, there has been a surge of seemingly copycat products. We have been asked if we are concerned about all the mimic
products that have been brought to market and all the product announcements of the last few months. Quite honestly, No. We expected it and appreciate that many
companies have elected to copy our approach to DVC (Desktop Video Conferencing), what we have been calling DVT or Desktop Visual Telephone."

Visual Telephone International was the first to demonstrate a fully integrated, self-contained, desktop video conference unit, with H.320 standards compliance, direct
ISDN connectivity, a simple operating system with Visual-EZ(R), seamless white boarding collaboration and still the only company to offer double resolution in
band, still store forward graphics display. Visual announced a number of product enhancements that improve the current model series.

All Visual 1000 and 1100 systems are now shipped with a 15" SVGA display with internal speakers (1100 was formally configured with a 14" display with external
speakers and power amplifier), reducing the number of audio interconnect cables and one additional external power supply.

The Visual 1100, our best selling single model product, is now fully International compliant with the base system and monitor now suitable for International operation,
without the need for a power converter. All Visual 1100 systems are now usable from 90 to 260 volts AC, 50 to 60 cycle.

Our Visual 1000 and 2000 series in 384 (6B) configuration is now available with a U.S. and Canadian approved internal ISDN direct 'U' interface. This
enhancement means the systems now require three less power supplies and three less cables to connect. The S/T original version is still offered for use to clients
connecting units to their "in-house" digital PBX for local switch routing and switched access to public switched network resources.

Our Visual products are now being used by the US Army for Distant Learning, Mimcorp for a special TeleMedical application, PosiCom, the second largest long
distance carrier in Canada, International Fidelity Insurance Company and many others. Communications Research, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Visual
Telephone International recently completed a video conference related project for J&W Seligman, New York, New York, a very old and well respected Securities
firm. CRI also has received additional orders from the US Army Directorate of Distant Learning and from Lucent Technology, Murray Hill, New Jersey.

The Company's products include the Visual-1000, Visual-1100 and Visual-2000 series of products, all include the simple to use, Visual-EZ operating system, the
most simplified video conference operating system with seemless collaborative capability. The Visual Telephone International Visual-1000 and 1100 series of fully
integrated, PC based video conference systems feature H.320 standards compliance with direct ISDN connectivity to the public switched network. Visual
Telephone International provides its Visual-2000 series, based around the same platform, to provide simultaneous dual display of full frame video presence and
graphics in a portable package, modularly configurable and scalable with up to dual 39" display.
