Some countries might get a little stressed out others really would take a crash with a grain of salt, However if the system worked well most would accept the risk. There are ways to minimize this, parachutes are currently used today on some small aircraft to prevent them form crashing, maybe something that that would work depending on the size of the aircraft. Remember we drop tanks and bulldozers from planes and they land softly. At least you could see it coming and get out of the way. BTW Mel would do instead of Mr Melendez.
