Dear CWO Melendez,

Thank you for your inspirational post. You should have been in a PR officer in an indoc/inspirational unit. I was an enlisted man in an Airborne unit when I first joined the Army. I know you well. You are a part of me. When you said, "...and this one has a good chance if management wakes up.", I knew you were truly committed. But you come to the table with a military mentality.

So, you are missing the point. In a commercial endeavour, the clients will NOT tolerate interruptions of service. It can cost business a fortune to be out of touch. For years, the most reliable way to make a call between Rio and Sao Paulo was to go THROUGH MIAMI or NEW YORK. Yes, sounds crazy. Check it out.

It is also obvious, that many on the thread don't realize that the Rio - Sao Paulo area is ON THE COASTLINE!!! They also do NOT realize that the area is situtate on an EAST/WEST axis. That means that the "airborne relay vehicle" could be flown OFFSHORE! No worries about crashes into the large urban area --- that is, IF THE WEATHER PERMITS. That is why I am interested in the ALTITUDE capability of the vehicles.

You also logically indicate that the PLFM technology could find military applications. I need not remind you of the constraints imposed by our government regarding technology that has military applications. Enough said. But really, the only seriously HOSTILE area's in S.A. are drug related. Most other military activity is related to smuggling and politics. Like Nam, not something easily solved with/by high-tech applications, like PLFM. Please keep thinking and asking questions.
