hey bruce---saw where BOST stock sank some more and they are now saying there is a real good chance of bankruptcy taking place. pretty amazing for a chain that was being hailed as the "macdonald's of the ninetys."
in still catching up i came across this pending litigation for nasdaq traders who traded between 5/1/89 and 7/17/96. i guess we all must have. has anyone looked into this or is it like most class action suits where after a bunch of form filling you'll end up with barely enough to cover your cost of postage?
read a very interesting piece in this mornings "times" biz section by their chief financial writer, tom petruno. i always try to read what he has to say because he's usually easy to understand and pretty understated in his views. never hysteria in either direction. his bottom line is that the next four weeks will be formulative. continued inventory buildups, probable announcements of a slow down in profits, bond yields lowering all pointing towards no probable interest rate increase. however he points out that the last time their was a back to back decline in corporate earnings was in '90-'91. do we remember "recession?"
will us investors continue to overlook weak profits? probably not which will probably equate to a continued flight to safety, i.e. blue chips at the expense of our small cap favorites. where have we heard this before? time to stock screen for those beaten down blue chippers whose time may be coming to benefit form the circumstances.
god, i've given myself a headache and my stomach is churning. another mallox moment!
