I see your point, but there has to be an "attorney-client" relationship in order for the privilege to apply. Just because someone is an attorney does not mean that all of his/her communications are privileged.

For example, if the Press Secretary happened to be an attorney, his/her communications with the President would not be privileged under the attorney client privilege since the Press Secretary is not acting as an attorney and the President is not a "client" of the Press Secretary.
