"Market makers in the same room signaling each other" Just so you know, there is only one market maker per stock in that room, so why would there be any illegal communication between employees of the same firm in the same room? What I was talking about is that it is illegal for MM's to talk to other market makers in the same stock about positions, orders, customers, feelings, etc. Just check out the $1 billion settlement that is in the legal fray right now between NASDAQ and the public!. Of course MM's use hand signals and other forms of communication when they are in a single room with 200 incoming phone lines and dozens of computer screens. Maybe you should attempt to visit one before you tell us how it works! sks1
