Mark: For us investors in Adaptec, confidence in the senior management is paramount. If there are valid reasons for doubting the abilities of the current CEO, I would like to know what they are. You are suggesting, as have others, that Adaptec's current stock price (related, of course, in part to the company's performance over the past 9 months) could be the result of a change in CEOs. Maybe there is real substance to that idea. It would be very useful to hear from persons who have (or still do) worked/work with CEO Grant Saviers and could give us a sense of his leadership, vision and business savvy.
He came on board as CEO at least two years ago, and Adler stayed on until retiring last August. A new CEO can ride along on the train (an overused metaphor of late) of the former boss for awhile, but not forever.
You have cited technology as Adaptec's problem. If you lump ineffectual leadership with that, the company is in real trouble.
However, I remain to be convinced on both counts. So far, I haven't seen a convincing argument from anyone. The stock price itself is not a good argument for either.
