On many threads a few people tend to understand the stock and know the company very well. I have been in that position on a number of occasions. To get into such a position one need to make alot of phone calls, visits to the company, reading about the competitors, etc etc. That is called DD by many. Sharing of how one gets his/her information is not practical much of the time. When I don't know a company inside and out I rely in large measure on others who do. The real question then becomes do you have confidence in the people who know the company well and have spent the prerequite time to become authorities on the stock and the company.
