Hi RS, I've never really studied the effect. The general historical view is that volatility increases short-term, but people anticipate it all week and the expirations are spread out over Thursday and Friday now, so this dilutes the effect compared to years ago. Plus, with the typical volatility we see on a daily basis anymore, it's just another day at the office, or maybe a tad more volatility that average.. I don't think they stand out the way they used to.
