Hi Don-

The TF+ scan (Report) has to represent your trading plan for selecting stocks. Keep it in English text form as you initially write it, then convert the English into code when you think it's about what you want. In my case I look for stocks with high beta, i.e. stocks that tend to move more than the market. I also want to see alpha that's positive and stocks that are between $8/sh and $20/sh. This isn't used for entry points but rather for screening a list of stocks that I want to consider for suitability to trade.

With the beta, alpha and price info I then go to Stock Investor and create a portfolio and then do a further screening. Stock Investor contains beta info, but it's not very timely and from what I've seen it seems to be inaccurate. There's no alpha info in Stock Investor and price info is weeks behind.

Given stocks that meet the screens above, I add them to a watch list then look for entry points by further screening for 52-week lows. This means that I'm waiting a fair amount of time, so I may be adding more stocks to the watch list as time goes by. Sometimes this doesn't work, depending on the trading characteristics of the stock (remember these are high beta, so they tend to move a lot).

Once I get in the range of an entry I use other means to manage the trade. I've wondered if there's a way to use TF+ to do that money management task, but so far I haven't made the effort to try nor have I quized Clay to see if he can help.

None of what I do is typical of what most do that have AIQ. It's a different trading system. Just indicating how I go about using TF+. AIQ is helpful with market signals which help decide on cash reserve. Also, I tend to hold these stocks a long time, so I'm not looking to buy stocks every day. But I do try to keep the watch list up to date so that when I need to replace a stock I'll be ready.

I know you mentioned it briefly, but I don't recall what you said you wanted to find thru your searches of your database. If you could reiterate that, maybe we can work out the algorithm (the English part) so that you can do the coding.

Also, be sure to go thru the examples/tutorials. They'll do an excellent job of providing an overview.

Bruce
