Jim,

This is the old "Apple vs. IBM" debate that raged through the 80's
when pc's were attempting to be an acceptable form of corporate
computing. If I remember correctly, Apple even ran its famous
"Big Brother" TV commercial to pulicize the issue. The irony was
that at that very time, Apple did all of its administrative computing
on IBM 3090's.

NC's will not replace workstations, but, hopefully they will replace
PC's. If you want a serious piece of computing equipment on your
desk, buy an Ultra. Sun has just adopted the PCI standard bus,
allowing 3rd party vendors to make peripheral devices for their
workstations, thus making it cheaper and more accessible for the
general user. Sun has also just announced price cuts on some of
its workstations. Since Price/Performance is the holy grail of
corporate sales and Sun's performance, when compared to PC's running
NT is not in question, Sun should be well-positioned to grow at
the 25%-35% projections Wall St. expects to see over the next 3-5
years.

I just read an interesting comment from famed stock trader and
multi-billionaire Warren Buffet. He said that even though he was
a personal friend of Bill Gates he has never invested in Microsoft
Corp. in the past and doesn't see any reasone to do now. The
reason? He claims that he can't see what Microsoft will look like
5 years from now.

If this sounds like a commercial, then so be it.
