Two items that I thought might be worthy of mention.

Taken from page 60 of the 1998 Second Half SuperTrader's Almanac.

"At last count, there were 1,967 such claims (by promoters with respect to being number one in rate of return), out of 632 advisors."

(The implication being, if you wish to bend the statistics there are a hell of a lot of newsletters, et cetera, who lay claim to being the "best".)

Taken from the same page,

(after an example of his own experience) "...people interviewed on financial television programs are not there because they provide excellent financial prognostications.

"They are there because they INTERVIEW well.

"They ENTERTAIN!

"They can explain the reasons why price movement HAS happened.

"Rarely will you EVER see any association of adviser's advice with adviser's results."
