This has been mentioned before; read Carol Putnam's post #2852.
On the whole I think that it is positive as it helps to validate the concept. The platform used for the Airborne Communications Node is Teledyne Ryan's Global Hawk which is rather more expensive than PLFM's system. The military are developing this system after their experience in the gulf war when available satellite capacity was stretched to meet the demand for communications. Military projects often have a lengthy gestation period so I don't think that it poses an immediate threat to PLFM,
