I agree with your post Paul except about the "iffiness" of the FTC approval. IMHO there is zero chance that such a combination would get approved.

A much more likely scenario is that Microsoft offers to buy Cendant Software and succeeds in its bid. This could then force TLC to look for a much bigger partner.
