I cannot speak for Tom or anyone else but in my case, I find trading futures to be far more Risk/Reward than conventional equities or options.

My experience is based on trading full time for over 7 years, part time for about 13 prior to that.

I do own stocks that I have purchased in years gone by that continue to do well. But I earn my living trading futures.

If you wish to speculate from the standpoint of positional trading on futures then Tom is one of the best to post the question to.
