Hi JW, Several here have been able to relate the AIM algorithm to closed loop control type devices. In very common terms, it's CRUISE CONTROL for one's investments.

Although Mr. L's thoughts were to have a method to profit from cyclical nature stocks, AIM's been applied to cyclical growth stocks here with success as well. Deep cycles make AIM work hard, but using it "by the book" has hurt the overall performance in this extended bull market if the Equity/Cash ratio hasn't been "adjusted" periodically. A fair amount of tinkering has gone on by myself and others to come up with simple "improvements" to the basic algorithm to allow it to be useful for bull phase stocks. There's more discussion on those at
execpc.com
and

Also, you can find the other AIM in-depth thread here on SI for further, experience oriented discussion.

The list of stocks that you mention look to all have good AIM characteristics. Are you currently an AIM user? I think you'll find this is a good thread for new investment ideas as well as discussing AIM's refinements. Most folks here that have used AIM for a while are getting pretty good at perceiving what "personality traits" make for compatibiltiy with AIM. We even have some large cap stocks that have done well with AIM when tweaked correctly!

Again, welcome to the group.

Best regards, Tom
PS: I noted in your profile that you've been fiddling around in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia. I'm committed (or maybe I should be!:-)) to WEHKX, the Wright Hong Kong fund and AIM to profit as things settle down there.
