Seems PRWT is not the only business having trouble in Belize.... Government is Crooked: says Oil Co. Rep A Houston based oil company representative, Ralph Goldstraw of Associated Oils, is accusing the Esquivel Government of corruption and dishonesty in the issuing of oil exploration licenses. According to Mr. Goldstraw since November 1993 he has been negotiating with the Geology and Petroleum Unit and the Minister of Energy Joseph Cayetano for an oil exploration license. These negotiations included meetings with Prime Minister Esquivel. The company had applied for a Petroleum Sharing Agreement PSA for a block in the Orange Walk District. Goldstraw, who played a role in getting North Sea Oil developed in Britain ,is convinced that Belize has considerable oil deposits and gave a written commitment to drill for oil in Belize within one year.
