**** OFF TOPIC ****
It is not the 16c PER PERSON that is the problem, it is the magnitude of the waste when Medicare and Medicaid are being cut back. for you to pay my share would not cut it because I am not worried about my taxpayer 16c. I am worried about how tax dollars in general are spent which is a much larger issue! To make me happy on that issue, you would need to come up with 16c for every man woman and child .... and then I would not worry about the waste. a mere 16c won't cut it! I had originally sent this in a PM, but I think maybe it belongs in the public eye more than that ... JMHO ... either you love him or hate him, and the fact is that he was a welcome change from the Ronnie and George years which were financial disasters, kind of like this stock right now :-) Even if you hate him, the country is in better shape that it was 10 years ago!
Clinton's problem is that the American people don't like it when lawyers and politicians use symantics to get around a common sense question. Clinton was right when he said he misled people. He was right when he said that he didn't lie. And has also right when he said that he didn't volunteer any information. If he had, this ordeal could have been over long ago.
Honestly, I am not too upset with Clinton. He has not done something that most other Americans would have done in the same situation. More importantly, I am of the opinion that the President was elected to do a job, not be a moral beackon for the American people. People claim that his presence in the White House disgraces America; did Thomas Jefferson's affair with a slave disgrace America? Did Grover Cleveland's illegitimate child disgrace America? Did FDR's girlfriend living in the White House disgrace America? Undoubtedly not. Cleveland and Roosevelt were elected more than once.
I truly hope that we as Americans can get back to the issues at hand. In the time that Kenneth Starr has been probing for dirt on Clinton and spending more than $40 million, people have still gone homeless, children are still being abused, and most Americans are still being discriminated against. But I'm afraid that it won't go away. The media has had a field day in the past seven months because they have had a lead story every day. If this ordeal goes away, then they have to hunt for something else to report on and I don't think they are ready to let this go. So we'll probably continue to see reports on Lewinsky (frankly, if I never saw her face again, it wouldn't bee too soon!) and Clinton.
