Steve, thanks for your comments re candlesticks

Yes, I am going to pick up Nison's book and see if I can use it in my trading. My one concern is that there may be quite a learning curve -- which may be rather cumbersome.

I think OJ, in his own inimitable way, was basically trying to tell me that "if it ain't broke......." in terms of my current trading approach vis a vis learning to use candlesticks. One of the reasons that it interests me at this juncture is because I am day-trading and trying to develop techniques to do so, I wanted to see whether this tool would be helpful. Do you know by any chance if people are successful using candles to trade day trade the futures--bond and/or S&Ps'?? Am interested in day trading the bonds as well, down the line.
